There are still a few days to visit the exhibition dedicated to Amedeo Modigliani in the halls of the Magnani Rocca Foundation, which will close on 18 July.

There are six works from the Musée de Grenoble, a reference point in the European panorama as well as the first and oldest French museum also dedicated to contemporary art, in a path that includes works from the thirteenth century to today, as well as Greek and Egyptian antiquities.

The exhibition revolves around the artist’s vocation for portraiture, a key and distinctive point of his production. He finds in it a way to deepen and express the individual in his intimacy and in the essence of him, describing his soul and emotions especially through the eyes, full expression of the interior.

The five pencil portraits accompany the well-known Femme au col blanc, a masterful example of this vision: the depth of the eyes, unrealistic and extremely deep as often happens, underlines the sensitivity, also thanks to that essential, simple but elegant style.

A varied background and inspiration, ranging from the great Sienese masters to major contemporary painters, especially French, which is reflected in the tour that surrounds the selected works with contemporary masterpieces by artists from across the Alps and beyond.

In fact, Severini is an example of this, who, like Modigliani, spent part of his life in Paris, coming into contact with him and demonstrating the mark he had left in him in his autobiography, once his friend passed away: they brought, not in appearance but in the depths of their hearts, a deep mourning for the loss of these two beings by all indiscriminately esteemed and loved “- referring to the death of Amedeo Modigliani first and of his muse Jeanne Hébuterne shortly after, in 1920).
