Art Night: the night of art in Venice
Saturday 17 June 2023 Art Night returns to Venice, the night of art in the lagoon with an edition full of meetings and extraordinary openings that will enliven the city for the weekend. The event, to which 124 institutions will participate with more than 150 appointments, is an opportunity for visitors to explore culture through visits, shows, concerts, exhibitions and free workshops.
Organized by the Ca’Foscari University in collaboration with the Municipality of Venice and sponsored by the Veneto Region, the Art Night was born in 2011 and has entered the official calendar of European Art Nights. The appointment is always set for the third Saturday in June, the closest to the summer solstice, with meetings and extraordinary evening openings of palaces, museums, galleries and foundations that bring the lagoon city to life until late at night.
The digital map of the events, a useful tool designed to allow visitors to orient themselves, will be downloadable thanks to a QR code present on the posters and playbills of the event scattered throughout the city. As always, the program will start at 6 pm on Saturday in the main courtyard of Ca’ Foscari with the traditional inauguration, the distribution of gadgets and institutional greetings, in the presence of Silvia Burini, Scientific Director of Art Night Venice and Angela Bianco, Art Night Coordination Venice.
Among the institutions that will participate in the event, the Musei Civici di Venezia participate with the extraordinary free evening opening of the Fortuny Museum and the International Gallery of Modern Art at Ca’ Pesaro. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection, for the twelfth consecutive year, will also participate in the Art Night with evening events at the museum dedicated to the current temporary exhibition, entitled “Edmondo Bacci. L’energia della luce”.
In addition to other important Venetian institutions such as the Querini Stampalia Foundation and Palazzo Grassi – Punta della Dogana, the event will enliven not only calli, campi and palazzi but also the islands and the mainland, with meetings scattered throughout the Municipality, with screenings at San Giuliano Park and the extraordinary evening opening of the Libreria Civica Vez in Mestre.
